Microsoft is cooking a new round of Windows 7 special offerings, this time orbiting around the Home Premium edition of the operating system. Following information leaked in the wild, the Redmond-based company has now officially confirmed the Family Pack for Windows 7. Under this label, the software giant prepares to launch another round of Windows 7 discounts, after the pre-order initiatives, which have now been discontinued. Essentially, customers will be able to buy a Family Pack of Windows 7 Home Premium and install the operating system on no less than three machines in the household.

“I know there have been some rumors going around about a ‘family pack’ for Windows 7. We have heard a lot of feedback from beta testers and enthusiasts over the last 3 years that we need a better solution for homes with multiple PCs. I’m happy to confirm that we will indeed be offering a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium (in select markets) which will allow installation on up to 3 PCs. As I’ve said before, stay tuned for more information on this and any other potential offers,” revealed Brandon LeBlanc, Windows communications manager on the Windows Client Communications Team.

Unofficial confirmation of the Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack has been available since the start of July. But even though it has confirmed that the Home Premium SKU of Windows 7 will be made available via a new special offering, Microsoft is not yet ready to share the details of the promotion with consumers. In this context, the company has failed to provide a deadline when the Family Pack becomes available to the public. In addition, no pricing details whatsoever were shared.

However, Microsoft partners have already done what the company continues to be reluctant to do, namely make public the prices of the Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack. Earlier this month, Expercom, an online retailer, featured WINDOWS 7 FAMILY PACK/ HOME PREMIUM UPGRADE Microsoft - Model GFC-00236 for $136.95. The University IT Computer Sales, another online shop, listed the Windows 7 Family Pack for $144.95.
