Microsoft has illustrated strong commitment to driving Windows 7 compatibility as hard as it can on numerous occasions. One example of initiatives designed to fuel the compatibility of third-party applications with the company's upcoming Windows client and server operating systems is ISV App Compat. The online resources start with an invitation for developers to get the green light for their software products tailored to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 ahead of the two platforms' official launch on October 22, 2009.

“Give your application the green light. Once you determine that your application is compatible, you can register it online and receive marketing benefits. Register your application at ISV App Compat. Tell us that your application is compatible with the latest Microsoft technologies and you’ll have access to marketing resources including directory listings, customizable marketing templates and press releases to help you get the message out to your customers,” revealed Bruce Kyle, Microsoft ISV architect evangelist.

Clicking the Get Started Now button on the website will take the Independent Software Vendors to a page where they will be able to submit their personal and company information. The webpage is designed to allow ISVs to share data on their applications with Microsoft. The Redmond company promised that it would publish all qualifying software products on the Windows 7 Compatibility Center and respectively on the Windows Server Catalog, depending on whether they are designed for Windows 7 or for Windows Server 2008 R2.

“For your submission to qualify, you must: be a representative of the software publisher or device manufacturer; know the current or future support plan on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 for the product you are submitting; provide complete information we can verify (please use your corporate e-mail address for the validation process),” Microsoft informed.
