Redmond is working to make this possible in Metro apps

One of the things that Microsoft is trying with Windows 10 is make Metro apps (now called Windows apps) a more important part of the operating system, trying to convince adopters that they can be used not only on tablets and devices with touchscreens but also on the traditional desktop.

As a result, in Windows 10, Metro apps are running in window mode and can be resized and moved on the screen just like any other desktop program.

But recent evidence has shown that Microsoft is also trying to enhance work with Metro apps by adding drag and drop support, a feature that has been around for many years for desktop software.

Useful for sharing stuff

In Windows 10, users will be allowed to drag and drop files directly in Modern apps, which would give them the possibility of performing a number of tasks more easily and faster than before.

While Microsoft hasn't mentioned anything about this feature, it's believed that it would first come in handy to those who use sharing on a regular basis.

With the new operating system, users should be able to drag and drop files from the desktop to their social apps and share content easily. The only thing that Microsoft has to do next is make sure that social apps do exist in Windows 10, as some of the official clients, including Facebook's, have rarely received updates.

Last but not least, Microsoft is working to make a single store available across all Windows 10 devices, so with universal apps, you should be able to find the exact same item not only on a PC but also on a tablet or smartphone. This way, users could get a very similar experience no matter the device, which is exactly what Microsoft is aiming at with Windows 10.

According to unconfirmed information, Windows 10 should go live in the second half of 2015, but more specifics are yet to be provided. RTM is said to be scheduled for June.
