In Windows 10, you’ll be able to flip a friend off

Microsoft is making a lot of changes in Windows 10, and one of the tweaks that fall in the under-the-hood category is the addition of new emoji, including a middle finger that would allow users of the new OS to flip their friends off.

Microsoft thus becomes the first company that adds the middle finger in its operating system, as both iOS and Android are lacking it.

Needless to say, there are plenty of new other emoji added in Windows 10, and EmojiPedia found some of them, pointing out that this is the first makeover since the debut of Windows 8.1 in 2013.

Emoji support in Windows debuted in October 2012 with Windows 8, but since then, Microsoft has barely made any changes to the default pack. Windows 8.1 was the first to bring support for color emoji in Windows with the help of the Segoe UI Emoji font.

Several skin tones and new emoji

In addition to the middle finger, there are plenty of new faces that can be used on Windows 10 when chatting with friends, and what’s more, Microsoft is offering six different skin tones. When not choosing a specific skin tone, emoji use gray as default, the aforementioned source notes.

Windows 10 is projected to launch in the summer of this year, but Microsoft hasn’t yet detailed any emoji improvement that might be part of the full operating system.

Yet, the company focused on features that could help it get closer to users, such as the Start menu, multiple desktops, and Cortana, all of which can be already tested with the help of the technical preview builds included in the Windows Insider program.

Rumor has it that Windows 10 would launch in July or August, so Microsoft still has enough time to detail the new emoji pack for this operating system, but in the meanwhile, check out the gallery below for some of the new ones included in the existing preview builds.
