14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced last month that the next version of Windows Phone would be released later this summer. Windows 10 will be launched around the same timeframe, after which Microsoft is expected to launch a new flagship smartphone powered by Windows 10 for Phones.
However, the Redmond-based company has other plans for tablets that sport 8-inch or lower displays. These tablets will be powered by a slightly modified version of Windows 10 for Phones, which is not yet available for testing.
Microsoft has been offering Insiders the option to test Windows 10 for Phones since February, when the first technical preview build was released for some Lumia smartphones.
Last week, a newer build of Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview expanded support to more Lumia smartphones and added lots of new features and improvements.
Today, the folks over at WinBeta have had the chance to test a different version of Windows 10 for small tablets. This build strongly resemblance Windows 10 for Phones, which is not surprising at all.

The Windows 10 for small tablets tested by WinBeta is not yet finished, which is probably one of the reasons Microsoft hasn't yet allowed Insiders to install it on their devices.
One of the many differences between this build and Windows 10 for Phones is the fact that apps included in the Windows 10 for small tablets scale with the entire size of the display, just like on desktops.
The Start Screen in this version isn't finished yet, but Microsoft did some tweaking in order to make menu navigation much smoother and intuitive.
It appears that this build was created in March, so it won't come as a surprise if Microsoft releases monthly builds of Windows 10 for small tablets.
Anyway, keep in mind though that this is not the final product, so screenshots taken from future versions may show an entirely different Windows 10 for small tablets.
