Microsoft will be adding a huge amount of the new features in Windows 10 for Phones in order to fill the gap between its mobile operating system and competition (Android / iOS).

There are quite a few important features that both Android and iOS already offer, but they are missing in Windows Phone.

Well, it looks like with Windows 10 for Phones things will be much better since Microsoft is going to add all those new features that fans have been missing since the release of the OS.

Some of these new features have already been confirmed earlier this week during WinHEC conference where Microsoft also announced that Windows 10 for Phones will be launched this summer.

So, without any further ado Windows Phone fans will be pleased to know that Microsoft plans to add Barometer to its smartphones via Windows 10 for Phones.

In addition, the proximity sensor will get a “long range” feature, which is meant to detect the human presence. Altimeter and Perometer sensors will be implemented too.

Some custom sensors will be added too, such as Environmental (Temperature, Humidity, CO2, UV and others) and Biometric (Heart rate, Gas).

Difference case scenarios depending on where/how you're holding your phone

When it comes to activity detection, Windows 10 for Phones comes with a couple of new features such as “walking” and “running” tracking for those pro-active fans. The tracking activity can be enabled even when using a bicycle or vehicle.

According to Microsoft, Windows 10 for Phones can track and manage up to 30 days of user history and integrates with low power designs.

These new features can be taken advantage of in different case scenarios, depending on how you keep your smartphone while running / walking / bicycling: Shirt Pocket, Pant Pocket, Hand, bag, Jacket Pocket, Backpack or Holster.

There are plenty of more features coming to Windows Phone in the next couple of months, some of them haven't been revealed yet, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
