The newest Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview was released less than two weeks ago, but the rollout has been on hold for some of the compatible Lumia smartphones.

Aside from the fact that the new build brought lots of new features and improvements, it also expanded support to more Lumia handsets, including Lumia 520, 521, 525 and 526.

However, Microsoft has decided to put the rollout of Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview on hold for these Lumia 520 series smartphones.

Apparently, many owners of these smartphones have bricked their handsets while trying to upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview.

Usually, those who brick their Windows Phones can use Windows Phone Recovery Tool to repair the damage, but in the case of Lumia 520 series this solution doesn't work.

Windows Phone Recovery Tool has been updated too

The good news is Microsoft has delivered an updated version of Windows Phone Recovery Tool, which is supposed to allow Lumia 520 series owners to unbrick their smartphones.

While investigating these issues that bricked the Lumia 520 series, Microsoft pulled the update for Windows Insiders members.

Today, Microsoft's Gabe Aul announced that his company managed to fix the issues with these smartphones when rolling back from the preview build back to Windows Phone 8.1.

This means that Microsoft shouldn't have any problems in allowing Windows Insiders members who own the Lumia 520 smartphone to upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview without having to fear that it will brick their smartphones.

And that is exactly what will happen. According to Gabe Aul, the rollout of the new Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview build for Lumia 520 series will be resumed tomorrow, April 21.

Let's hope Microsoft will be able to meet this deadline and make the latest technical preview build available to all Lumia 520 owners since this is one of the most popular Windows Phone handsets on the market.
