The information has been confirmed by Microsoft

Microsoft released Windows 10 for Phone technical preview last month, but only six phones were supported in the initial build and none of them was high-end.

As many of you probably know by now, Microsoft's Windows 10 for Phone Technical Preview can only be installed on these smartphones: Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730, and Lumia 830.

However, a few days after the release many have been able to put the new version of the OS on their handsets even if they weren't included on the list of supporting smartphones.

This was possible due to a hack that could brick your smartphone among others. Even so, many Windows Phone fans who couldn't wait for Microsoft to make Windows 10 for Phone available to more handsets have decided to take the more dangerous approach.

The hack was only available for a few days, as Microsoft patched the app that allowed people to reroute Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview updates to their smartphones, even if they were not supported.

That being said, a large chunk of Windows Phone users aren't given the option to install this preview build, and Microsoft hasn't really said too much about expanding support for more phones in the not-so-distant future.

There's hope for more fans to get into the Windows 10 for Phone preview program

Although it was obvious that more and more smartphones will be included on the list of supported Windows 10 for Phones devices, there was no timeframe until today.

Microsoft's Gabe Aul has just confirmed that the next update for Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview will introduce support for more smartphones.

Unfortunately, there's no telling when the next build will be released and he doesn't name any of the smartphones that will be supported in the new Windows 10 for Phones version.

Here is hoping that at least one high-end Lumia smartphone will be included among the Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview supported devices.
