PC users might be able to talk on their phones from desktop

Windows 10 will indeed bring a plethora of changes for both PCs and phones, and features that could make their way in the new operating system are one by one leaked to the web these days.

Today’s news points to a rumor according to which Microsoft could bring new features in Windows 10 that would allow PC users to start calls and send texts from their desktops directly through their phones.

What’s more, UnleashThePhones claims that PC users can answer calls on their computers and use headphones and microphones to talk to their contacts. Sending text messages and emails could also be possible from the desktop once the new Windows 10 for phones becomes available.

New dedicated software in this regard

The biggest question right now is how. How does Microsoft plan to offer such functionality in Windows 10 for phones?

The easiest way to achieve this goal is to develop a new software solution that would provide PC users with quick access to their phones and thus be in full control of their features. More like a phone manager, if you like, with dedicated sections for calls, contacts, messages, emails, and files.

BlackBerry also has something like this and it’s called “BlackBerry Blend,” but it only features access to emails, SMS, and BBM messages, so no voice call support for now.

But if Microsoft does want to develop such a feature, it shouldn’t be too hard to implement, especially because Windows 10 for PCs and for phones would be closely connected to each other, and Continuum for phones is living proof that the two platforms can get along very well.

Of course, this is just a rumor for now and you should take it with a pinch of salt, but there’s no doubt that such functionality in Windows 10 is really possible. Let’s just hope that it’s all real.
