Transparency is now a key feature of the OS

Microsoft is hard at work to significantly improve Windows 10 for phones preview and prepare a new build that would provide better performance and new features, and screenshots that have gotten leaked today indicate that the company is making big progress in this direction.

Screenshots allegedly showing Windows 10 for phones build 10072 have leaked via the usual Chinese channels to reveal a new transparency slider that allows users to configure the level of transparency on the Start screen.

As you know, the transparency effect could not be adjusted in the previous release, but with the upcoming build expected to come out sometime this month, more options in this regard would be offered to users.

The screenshots you can find in the gallery after the jump show that transparency can be set at any level from full 1 percent to 100 percent, with the latter making the live tiles almost invisible on the home screen.

New background options

At the same time, it appears that Microsoft implemented new background options that would allow users to configure the way the wallpaper looks on their home screen, but no details are available right now.

Transparency, however, is one of the key features of this new build, and it’s pretty clear that Microsoft has spent a lot of time to make it available across the OS, but its behavior could change before Windows 10 for phones hits the shelves in the fall of 2015.

The PC version of Windows 10 is projected to launch during the summer, but Microsoft has already confirmed that the phone build won’t launch together with it, so everyone now expects Windows 10 for phones to arrive in the fall of 2015, most likely in October.

This is actually a good thing because the phone platform still needs lots of refinements, so Microsoft has enough time to make it a better rival to Android and iOS.
