More good news for Windows Phone fans, as Microsoft will be adding more new features and improvements in the next version of its mobile operating system.

We've already reported on how Microsoft will bring new health sensors and activity tracking, as well as a wide range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi Direct and USB Type-C support, in Windows 10 for Phones.

Now it looks like there's another set of enhancements planned to Windows 10, which will make the mobile platform more competitive on the market.

Most Windows Phone handsets already benefit from NFC (Near Field Communication), but this feature can be used to make payments on the go with some restrictions.

However, with Windows 10 for Phones, Microsoft plans to make this option available to users without being restricted by carriers. The information comes directly from the company's presentations at WinHEC conference held last week in China.

NokiaPowerUser has been able to extract the video that demos the NFC payments feature that should be part of Windows 10 for Phones later this year when it is officially launched.

Apart from the ”Tap to Pay” capability, Windows 10 for Phones will also bring a host of improvements to NFC connectivity, such as new support for Host Card Emulation (HCE), improved payment integration flows to enable coexistence of HCE with UICC based SE.

New APIs and settings will be added too

“Tap to Pay” feature will be fully compatible with many companies that offer this type of service, including Visa, MasterCard and AMEX.

Windows 10 for Phones users will also be able to use NFC to initiate Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) pairing with a Wi-Fi Direct device.

Also, the APIs to toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other settings with a TAP from third-party apps will be included in the next version of Windows Phone as well.

We are pretty sure that there are plenty of other features that Microsoft plans to add to Windows 10 for Phones, so stay tuned for other sneak peeks to these new features.
