Microsoft rolls out security fixes for Windows 10 as well

Windows 10 is one of the operating system versions that received updates as part of the Patch Tuesday rollout, so in case you're running the Technical Preview on your computer, make sure that you get these as soon as possible.

Even though it's still in development stage right now, this doesn't mean that Windows 10 is not vulnerable to attacks, so Microsoft tries to keep users on the safe side by rolling out security improvements for this particular OS version as well.

Windows 10 doesn't get any particular fixes, but exactly the same updates as the other Windows versions, so you should see an Internet Explorer patch, as well as fixes for Office and other software vulnerabilities.

Microsoft also promises new bugfixes

Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879 is the last update of the year for the Windows Insider Program, with the company now working on a completely new version that could see daylight in January, during a dedicated press event focused on the new operating system.

People close to the matter said that this particular event could also bring us a preview version of Windows Phone 10, as well as a more clear release schedule for Windows 10. A developer preview build of Windows 10 is likely to see daylight in April at BUILD, while a Consumer Preview release should take place soon after that.

As far as Windows 10 updates are concerned, Microsoft is working these days to bring new fixes to those who installed build 9879, thus trying to address some of the biggest annoyances found in this particular version.

Most of these problems are, however, expected to be fixed before the next build comes out, so don't be too surprised if Microsoft “spams” us with new patches in the coming weeks.

Windows 10 launch in mid-2015

Despite the fact that Microsoft hasn't shared any details on the Windows 10 roadmap, we already know plenty of details about the new operating system thanks to unofficial channels bringing us new information on a regular basis.

2015 is going to be a really busy year for Microsoft, sources say, and after the aforementioned two preview releases in the coming spring, the company is likely to launch the final version of the operating system in late summer or early fall 2015.

RTM could thus be announced during the summer, but this, of course, depends on how well the development work actually advances. There are still a lot of unknown details about this new OS, so let's just wait for the January event to find out more about it.
