14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 is still work in progress, but since we’re already in May and Microsoft said that it would launch the new operating system during the summer, we’re getting extremely close to the moment when the new product would see the light of day.
Earlier today, Microsoft has officially revealed the SKUs that will be available when Windows 10 launches, but the company has still refused to provide any details on the pricing (besides the fact that Home and Pro are free during the first year of availability) and on the release date.
But according to Russian leaker WZor, Microsoft already has a date in mind and that date is July 22. On that day, Microsoft plans to sign off Windows 10 RTM, which means that the operating system would be sent to manufacturing and no other changes would be made.
Public launch in late July or early August
As for the release date, there are several rumors out there, and although dates might be a little bit different, all point to late July or early August.
For example, some say that Windows 10 could hit the market on July 29, which would perfectly align with previous statements made by AMD executives, who said that the new OS was scheduled to launch in late July.
On the other hand, if WZor’s date is accurate, one week might not be enough for Microsoft to bring out Windows 10 after RTM, but given the fact that Redmond is planning to update insiders first, such a scenario would make sense.
An August unveiling is also possible, but there’s no doubt that Microsoft wants to bring Windows 10 out as soon as possible, not only because it wants to step away from Windows 8 and overhaul its portfolio but also because it intends to give partners more time to prepare for the back-to-school shopping season.
As a reminder, do not forget that these are all just rumors for the time being and we should still wait for an official statement before anything else.
