Newegg listing provides us with new Windows 10 info

Microsoft has already confirmed that Windows 10 will arrive during this summer, but the company hasn't provided any other specifics, with some sources claiming that they're planning to do so during the WPC 2015 conference in early July.

But in the meantime, listings on Newegg provide us not only with the very first pricing details of Windows 10 but also with a potential release date of the operating system.

If this information is accurate, Windows 10 Home OEM should cost $109.99 (€100), while Windows 10 Pro OEM will be available for $149.99 (€137), both to be released on August 31, 2015.

Keep in mind, however, that Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users within the first year after launch, and you won't have to pay for upgrades or improvements after that. Windows 10 will be supported during the whole lifetime of your device, so if you run Windows 7 or 8.1 on your PC right now, you'll get the new OS at absolutely no cost forever.

Press event in late July?

The biggest question right now is how accurate the information posted on Newegg is.

First of all, Newegg isn't selling only Windows but the majority of Microsoft products, and it has become one of the main stores for those looking to buy software or hardware manufactured by the Redmond-based tech giant. So they probably have access to information that's not available to the public.

Secondly, this isn't the first time when Newegg posts Windows pricing before everyone else. They did the same thing with Windows 8 pricing and the information they posted online was accurate, so chances are that this is happening with Windows 10 too.

As far as the release date of Windows 10 is concerned, previous reports indicated that Microsoft was looking at late July for the new operating system, and at some point, this could make sense.

If Microsoft is holding a press event to introduce Windows 10 in late July, sales could start 30 days later, and during this whole time, they could upgrade Windows Insiders and those running Windows 7 and 8.1 on their PCs. The company has already confirmed that insiders will get Windows 10 before everyone else, so this could be the plan if everything goes well.
