14 DAY TRIAL // Many users complain that, after a while, Windows operating systems tend to become slower and need more time to load than after a clean install, blaming junk files and leftovers that continue to eat up space on the local drive after removal.
Most of these users rely on the built-in Windows app uninstaller to get rid of programs, but because it only provides basic features, it still leaves behind junk files and unnecessary registry entries that slow down the PC.
That’s why Windows 10 needs a better app uninstaller, more than 10,000 users said as part of a feature suggestion posted on UserVoice, Microsoft’s feedback platform.
Right now, there are plenty of third-party apps that do just that, so why not build a dedicated Windows feature that takes care of leftovers and any junk that apps might be leaving behind after getting removed? This way, Windows 10 could remain in tip-top shape longer and provide better performance without the need for advanced tweaks, users explained.
“Seriously. I'm tired of having to reinstall windows and dozens of programs because errors become more constant after a years of use. I'm honestly switching to Mac if this isn't fixed,” one user posted.
No plans for such a feature
Right now, Microsoft hasn’t offered any indication that such a feature might be in the works, so the company could indeed focus its development work on other tools and ignore this particular suggestion.
And yet, since it has been voted by more than 10,000 people, it really deserves Microsoft’s attention, as the company promised to listen to users and try to implement the most popular requests.
The next Windows 10 build should be released sometime this month, but do not expect such options to be part of it. The final version of the OS, however, might indeed bring a better app uninstaller when it comes out in the fall of 2015.
