Microsoft confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile would arrive a few months after the PC sibling because of the additional work that needs to be completed, but now, thanks to a slide presented by a company spokesperson, it provides us with more specifics about the projected release date.

Windows 10 Mobile is expected to debut in September, which kind of makes sense, given the fact that the company said that its Windows Phone successor should debut in the fall of 2015.

But as Neowin writes, the said September 2015 launch might not mean anything for consumers because they could receive the update to Windows 10 Mobile later this year, as Microsoft might be looking at the first month of autumn for the release to OEMs and partners.

And yet, there are still several other details that need to be considered in regard to the September release for Windows 10 Mobile.

Insiders could get it sooner

First and foremost, Windows insiders who are already trying out the existing preview builds of Windows 10 Mobile are expected to receive it before everyone else, although there are some voices who claim that Microsoft could go for an approach similar to that for the PC version and release it for everyone at the same time.

The PC version of Windows 10 will go live on July 29 for Windows insiders and for those running Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 (who’ll get the upgrade at no cost).

This type of release, however, doesn’t match previous reports on the matter, which claimed that the company could go for a staggered launch and ship Windows 10 Mobile to users gradually across the world. Basically, Windows 10 Mobile would go live just like a firmware update, so carriers would have to conduct their own testing and give their approval before their customers get it.

This could take more than expected and the release of Windows 10 Mobile could span to early 2016 if carriers don’t move fast enough.

Microsoft is yet to confirm the release date for Windows 10 Mobile, so take the September launch with a grain of salt until an announcement or statement is being offered. We’ve reached out to the company for a word on this, so we’ll update the article when we get an answer.
