Microsoft working to make the OS faster than predecessors

Since it’s a newer release, Windows 10 is expected to be greatly superior to its predecessors, at least in terms of speed and performance, and Microsoft knows this very well. As a result, the company is working to improve specific features of the OS to make them faster, despite the fact that Windows 10 is still in development and bugs and a somewhat slower performance should be expected.

Today, Microsoft has announced a new bunch of improvements for the Feedback app that’s included in Windows 10, and a chart that has been published on Twitter confirms that the company managed to get a search speed increase of no less than 95.7 percent.

Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has used this occasion to point out that Microsoft is indeed listening to users and today’s speed improvements are made after testers complained that the Feedback app was too slow.

More speed improvements on their way

Microsoft is also working to make the operating system overall faster and new improvements are on their way. Some are expected to be introduced in the next few Windows 10 builds, but most likely, the biggest performance increase should be noticed in the final version of the operating system.

On UserVoice, Microsoft’s very own feedback platform for Windows 10, testers have already asked the company to make specific features of the operating system faster, including the shutdown process.

Right now, a request to make shutting down faster has several hundreds of votes and will most likely get more in the coming months, as more users notice certain features that need to be improved.

Obviously, Microsoft needs to keep improving Windows 10 in order to really convince users to upgrade to Windows 10, and there’s absolutely no doubt that speed should be a priority for the new OS.

Windows 10 is projected to go live in the second half of this year, so Microsoft still has enough time to improve the overall speed of the OS before it reaches RTM.
