Users can no longer update their systems from Control Panel

Some users want Microsoft to dump the classic Control Panel entirely in Windows 10, and although the company hasn't yet provided an answer in this regard, it might seem that it's at least willing to do it in the near future.

Windows 10 build 9926 is the first version of the upcoming operating system that removes a feature from the traditional Control Panel and makes it available in the touch-optimized PC settings screen.

This particular build doesn't come with two Windows Update features but only with a single one that's placed in the revamped PC settings, so in case you were one of the many fans of the traditional Control Panel, Windows 10 build 9926 might come as a big disappointment for you.

15,000 votes and counting

At this point, the user request to merge Control Panel with PC settings has more than 15,000 votes and it's very likely to get more in the coming weeks, as many users apparently prefer to access all their settings from a single place.

“Why do I have to go the PC settings to forget a network and Control panel to change IP settings? Can't this all be done from a single place?--- Confuses some people to switch back and forth between pc settings and control panel! Please either make the whole concept a modern one or a desktop one, we don't need two worlds to make changes to single PC!” the user suggestion reads.

As usual, a lot could change until the final version of Windows 10 comes out in the fall of 2015, as Microsoft is continuously tweaking the operating system to better tackle users' needs, but it's pretty clear that at some point in the future the two configuration screens could merge.

The desktop Control Panel remains the number one destination of users who want to retain the familiar side of Windows 7 on their PCs, so it remains to be seen if everybody can get used to the new setup.
