14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 build 10147 got leaked a few hours ago, and now, thanks to Russian Windows leaker WZor, we also have the official release notes that Microsoft sent to partners (this build comes from a partner and got leaked from China), so we can now see what’s changed in this fresh release.
As you probably remember, Microsoft’s Gabe Aul previously said that new Windows 10 build would be mostly focused on fixing bugs and improving performance, so no new features would be added. As a result, in the “What’s new” section of the official documentation, Microsoft only said that “no new software updates are in this release,” without mentioning any of the changes that we came across.
And yet, some pretty important changes are part of build 10147, including the addition of Microsoft Edge, Redmond’s new browser that replaces Internet Explorer as the default browser in the new OS.
Plenty of bug fixes
But as promised, Microsoft indeed focused on fixing bugs in this build, so the “Bug fixes” section comes with plenty of information on what was addressed in 10147.
For example, Microsoft fixed an issue that occasionally caused graphical corruption when the background image on a second screen was being loaded, as well as a bug that was hiding the video playback controls in Microsoft Edge for certain websites.
And as Microsoft writes, the company also focused on improving the upgrade experience from previous Windows versions to Windows 10:
“When the user upgrades from Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, they are now able to downgrade to the earlier operating system, as expected. Before this fix, the presence of an Internet Information Services (IIS) account prevented the downgrade.”
Windows 10 build 10147 is unlikely to be released for Windows Insiders, but a new version that’s expected to be even better could be shipped very soon, if recent rumors prove to be true.
