Here’s the new Windows 10 build in action

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 10122 only a few hours ago, so the new version is now up for grabs for anyone enrolled in the Windows Insider Program and part of the fast ring.

Just like Microsoft said, this new build comes with several improvements, and while only a few new features are included, there’s no doubt that build 10122 is the most polished, fast and reliable version released so far.

The Start menu too has received some tweaks, and the button in the top right corner is no longer there, but placed in the settings screen, as Microsoft believes that, once you choose between the Start menu and the Start screen, you stick to your choice and don’t need to toggle between the two so often.

At the same time, the Start menu has shortcuts for File Explorer, settings, power, and all apps in the lower left corner, while the most used apps are listed just above.

Microsoft Edge improvements

The Edge browser, still called Spartan in this build, comes with a new tab window that displays news and MSN content without any click required.

A search box that also plays the role of an address bar is displayed on this tab and comes with support for Cortana, so you can, for example, type anything and let the personal assistant take care of that for you. For instance, you can simply type “Weather in New York,” and Cortana searches for the forecast and displays it in the search box without the need to press Enter.

Overall, Windows 10 build 10122 feels faster and more stable than its predecessors, and it’s living proof that the operating system is advancing at a good pace. The new operating system is projected to reach RTM during the summer, while general availability is expected in July or August, according to people close to the matter.
