14 DAY TRIAL // Screenshots of a new Windows 10 build reached the web this morning, providing us with a glimpse into the feature lineup of what seems to be a more refined version of the upcoming operating system.
Windows 10 build 10102, which is expected to be shipped to users in early May and presented by Microsoft at the BUILD 2015 developer conference, comes with a series of improvements for the Start menu and Cortana, which seem to be closer integrated together into the desktop.
Cortana has been redesigned to better fit the Start menu, so it now just seems to be a part of it altogether. When clicking the search icon in the taskbar, you are provided with a more polished search box, with Cortana now featuring a hamburger button that provides quick access to all of its settings.
The overall design of Cortana hasn’t been changed, but the hamburger menu surely comes in handy to many, especially because this way you can configure the personal assistant much more easily.
Same icons and other minor improvements
As you can see for yourselves, Windows 10 build 10102 appears to come with the very same icons as in build 10061, which is the latest offered by Microsoft to Windows insiders.
The new Recycle Bin icon is also there, which could be a sign that the company wants to stick with this design and not to introduce a second overhaul of its look. On the other hand, the old icons are also part of 10102, but that’s likely to change in the next technical previews.
Last but not least, there are only a few other minor visual improvements available in this build, so most of the work has been focused on integrating Cortana better in the Start menu and the desktop and probably on under-the-hood performance and optimizations.
No leaked ISO is available right now, but a new build of Windows 10 is expected to be released by Microsoft itself early next month.
