The new version is up for grabs, but can't be installed

Windows 10 build 10061 showed up in Windows Update for some users last week, but Microsoft said that only company employees were supposed to get it, so nobody else actually managed to download it on their computers.

This time, build 10061 has leaked from Microsoft's servers, but contrary to previous versions that reached the web through unofficial channels, this one is encrypted and cannot be installed by third-parties.

Interestingly, all the previous builds that got leaked could be decrypted and this way we could all give a shot to new versions of the technical preview without Microsoft specifically allowing us to do it, but the company has apparently improved protection in build 10061 so this time it takes longer to bypass it.

As usual, Microsoft itself does not recommend users to install unofficial releases because it could come with bugs and issues that could totally ruin your experience on Windows 10, but we all know that that majority of users would still do it.

Official build coming next week

Even though this is still an unofficial version, insiders should get their hands on a fresh technical preview build next week when Microsoft officially opens the doors of this year's BUILD developer conference in San Francisco.

As usual, Microsoft is looking to bring developers fresh software and introduce some changes that could be then tested by all of us, so BUILD is the right moment to provide us with an updated technical preview.

Right now, there's no information whether 10061 could be the version to ship as part of the Windows Insider program, but this is very unlikely given the fact that development has already reached version 10.0.10000, which is expected to be a very important milestone for the new operating system.

As for the download links for the new leaked build, we can't provide you with such information, but it shouldn't be too hard to find them if you know where to look.
