Music fans who own mobile phones running under Google's Android operating system can now download and install a popular application on their handsets, namely Winamp, which was recently added to the Android Market in a beta version. Those of you familiar with the application should already know that the music player sports some pretty appealing features, most of which are now available for Android users.

According to a recent article on Android Police, the new application comes with a great deal of features that should make most Android phone owners out there rejoice.

Among these features, we can count a Lockscreen widget, headset button controls, Last.fm scrobbling (Last.fm would have to be installed), Play queue support, and many others more.

The new music player for Android-based mobile phones also offers users the possibility to sync music with the desktop version of Winamp via Wi-Fi or USB, (though it seems that WiFi sync won't work with all versions of the desktop app).

The features list of this mobile software solution also includes a fluid interface, complemented by Widget support, with the possibility to set songs as ringtones straight from the application.

The music controls are present in most areas of the application. Moreover, users would be able to permanently delete a song that's playing.

The new mobile application also enables users to search for a song via YouTube, Pandora, or browser, through long pressing on it. Winamp also comes to Android with notifications, a feature present on other apps as well.

The Android software solution is compatible with 2.1 or newer flavors of Google's mobile platform, it seems.

It should be noted that this is the first Android release of the application, and that it is also a beta version, which means that not all things are running as smoothly as one might be expecting.

However, Winamp for Android does come with a nice range of appealing features, and this first release is said to be pretty impressive. Those interested in giving it a try should head over to the Android Market to download it.
