WinZip Computing yesterday announced the new version of the WinZip Self-Extractor, now at 3.0.
This release comes shortly after the company was acquired by Corel, one of
the leaders of graphics and digital applications.
Currently, the WinZip line includes three primary products: WinZip, WinZip Companion for Outlook and WinZip Self Extractor. WinZip Companion for Outlook extends WinZip's functionality to Microsoft's Outlook e-mail application, automating the compression and encryption of e-mail file attachments.
As the name suggests, WinZip Self Extractor allows users to create archives that can be uncompressed without the need for the WinZip application.
This latest version of WinZip Self-Extractor supports the same improved compression technology (PPMd) and advanced encryption (AES with 128- and 256-bit keys) found in WinZip 10.0 and WinZip 10.0 Pro.
This allows users to create self-extracting Zip files that are smaller and offers the ability to distribute encrypted information. WinZip Computing broadens the feature set of WinZip Self-Extractor further by adding support for enhanced deflate compression and high-resolution (XP-style) icons.
WinZip Self-Extractor has been certified by Softpedia as being
100% CLEAN and is available for download
