WinPatrol has been around for a very long time and it does not show any sign of falling into oblivion, especially with the new release integrating new features that extend its functionality; some bugs have also been dealt with and improvements are available as well.

One of the new features added to the freshly launched WinPatrol 25 is that it can notify on attempts to remove an installed program (available only in the PLUS version). This is achieved by monitoring the location Windows uses to store Uninstall information and the alert is triggered even on silent removal actions.

The other option, available for the free edition as well, is that WinPatrol can inform if a program on your computer has eliminated a startup entry.

Both new features are aimed at uncovering malware, which, in some cases resorts to this type of actions in order to avoid detection.
