Getting ready for Halloween? Then you might as well make the best out of it. A new contest brought to users by Microsoft and Instructables.com is designed to give users some sweet gear to really help them celebrate the upcoming holiday. Users will need nothing more than costume building skills and the right software to highlight their talent in order to get a chance at winning the Halloween Movie Making Contest from Instructables.com.

“All you need to do is document from start to finish, with video and photos, the process of building your Halloween costume,” revealed Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc.

“Then, use your PC and Windows Live Movie Maker (you can grab the new Movie Maker by downloading Windows Live Essentials 2011) to create a 30-second long movie from the video and/or photos you took of constructing your costume and submit your entry.”

At the bottom of the screen is a video provided by Instructables.com featuring content similar to what the two companies are looking for in entries from participants.

Using Windows Live Movie Maker in order to put together the video is a must, according to the Redmond company.

“One lucky grand-prize winner will receive the Ultimate Windows Live Movie Maker Package: a brand new iCore 5 Gateway laptop with Windows 7 and Windows Live Essentials – perfect for home movie making and keeping your digital media organized,” LeBalnc stated.

But also “a Pure Digital - Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder [and a] 2-year Pro Membership to Instructables.com.”

In addition, there will be another five Instructables Prize Packs offered to runner-ups that did not manage to get the more consistent prizes from the software giant.

“Get ready for some Frightfully Fantastic Fun! This year, Microsoft has teamed up with the folks from Instructables.com to challenge you in showing off your costume building skills with a movie making contest,” Instructables.com said.

“All you need to do is document from start to finish the process of building your costume with a digital camera or camcorder. Then use a PC with Windows 7 and Windows Live Movie Maker to create a movie that is one minute or less from the photos and or videos you took showing us how you built your costume.”
