This weekend, phones that are faster than Windows Phone can bring you a PC worth $1,000, the latest reports on the web suggest.

Apparently, Microsoft has decided to increase the prize in its "Smoked by Windows Phone" campaign by ten-fold, so as to show to the world that it is confident on the capabilities of its platform.

The company will have the promotion running in various stores around the United States this weekend, and is providing users with the possibility to walk away with a Hunger Games Special Edition PC.

But there’s more to it, and even those who won’t have devices rising up to the same performance level as Microsoft’s platform will win something: the possibility to swap their current devices with a brand new and shining Windows Phone device (other than Nokia Lumia 800).

The promotion will run in Microsoft’s Stores between noon and 7PM local time. All modern devices such as iPhones, Android handsets, and RIM's BlackBerry devices are accepted.

Additionally, Microsoft will be asking people to sign a release form in which they agree to have their story used in the company’s future advertising for the platform.

Moreover, it appears that there are some strict rules in this challenge, The Verge notes. For example, users are allowed to a single attempt only.

The new $1,000 Windows Phone challenge starts today, and is part of The Hunger Games opening weekend. The promotion will end on March 26th.

Users who will have their devices "Smoked by Windows Phone" won’t have to swap them for a new Windows Phone if they do not want to, but they are offered this possibility.

This new episode in Microsoft's "Smoked by Windows Phone" marketing campaign is meant once again to show that the platform is indeed capable of delivering a great experience to all users, even if people are not yet aware of all the capabilities and features of this platform.
