The rules for this competition are pretty simple and straightforward

Canonical is prepping its Ubuntu Touch operating system and the company has just launched the second Ubuntu App Showdown.

The main problem that any new operating system faces is the lack of new applications. Canonical is trying to prevent this issue by encouraging the community to build as many apps as possible, with the promise of the great prize, of course.

“Contestants will have six weeks to build and publish their apps using the new Ubuntu SDK and Ubuntu Touch platform. Both original apps and ported apps, native and HTML 5, will qualify for this competition.

“The winners of this contest will each receive an LG Nexus 4 phone running Ubuntu Touch with their application pre-installed,” reads the official announcement.

Even if an app doesn’t win the great prize, the user will still have the satisfaction of having an application installed by default in Ubuntu Touch.

More details about the rules and about the judges can be found in the announcement.
