14 DAY TRIAL // The plot in the Willow Smith photo scandal thickens, as we find out that someone actually tipped Child Protection Services to look into the matter and start an official investigation as to how exactly Jada and Will Smith are raising their children.
Radar claims that “The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services opened the investigation into Will and Jada after the picture of Willow was posted on social media,” according to an insider.
He goes off the record to admit that “The department received an anonymous tip about the welfare and safety of Willow, based on the contents of the photo.” For those of you not up to speed, the photo showed 13-year-old Willow Smith, the daughter of Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, sitting in bed with 20-year-old actor Arias Moises, who was shirtless at the time.
“The investigation was formally opened last week and is being taken very seriously by the department,” added the insider, who also revealed that so far the parents were being very cooperative, but didn't appreciate this investigation in the least.
Yesterday we found out via the same channels that CPS are also going to take separate interviews of Willow and Arias to see what exactly went on at the moment the photo was taken. When the scandal first broke out, Jada dismissed the issue by saying that there was nothing lewd about the photo and that her daughter and the Hannah Montana actor had been friends since early childhood.
She told photographers at LAX when they ran into her that the photo was innocent but the media was making it seem like it was provocative, “There was nothing [lewd] about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool.”
Arias Moises, the actor who first posted the picture on social media, has since deleted it but it still was online long enough to cause a stir with parents who are now outraged that the actor couple, Jada and Will, allow their daughter to be caught in such poses that to them seem inappropriate.
Unfortunately, the issue is much thornier than it might seem at a first glance, because it reveals that people have different sets of values and morals and these seldom coincide from individual from individual. However, society does tend to cast a uniform eye onto such matters, which is why Willow's parents are now under serious fire.
It remains to be seen what the outcome of the official investigation will be, but it's unlikely that it will reach an unfavorable conclusion for the two actors that are the parents to Willow and her brother Jaden.
