Rumors are pointing to a possible release next month

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 is selling really well despite the hefty price, but it’s no secret that the software giant is working to release a successor that would be based on the same approach as the existing model and come as a laptop replacement.

Often called the Surface Pro 4, the new model is expected to debut sometime this year, and now there’s some talk online indicating that Microsoft could take the wraps off the new device next month.

Some reports previously indicated that the Surface Pro 4 was expected to launch in May, but these rumors were obviously false and the new tablet is yet to see daylight, with Microsoft remaining completely tight-lipped not only on details regarding the improved device but also on its release date.

It could launch together with Windows 10

But with Microsoft refusing to disclose a single word about the Surface Pro 4, nothing should be taken for granted, despite the fact that some rumors make more sense than others.

For instance, this time people are claiming that the Surface Pro 4 could launch in July, and that indeed makes sense, given the fact that Microsoft will debut Windows 10 on July 29 and thus make the operating system available to everyone.

The Surface Pro 4 will obviously run Windows 10 from the very beginning, and Microsoft is expected to position the new 2-in-1 device as a pioneer of the new operating system (the Surface Pro 4 will most likely come with a screen of at least 12 inches in size and will continue to be promoted as a laptop replacement, so it’s more of a 2-in-1 than a tablet/laptop).

The full capabilities of Windows 10 can be thus demonstrated with the Surface Pro 4, and a July release date is just the perfect moment to introduce it to the world.

If this is indeed true, expect the first bits of information regarding the Surface Pro 4 to reach the web this month, as Microsoft would start sending out invites for the big launch in July.

But in the meantime, the Surface Pro 4 is just a name in Microsoft’s product roadmap, so the only thing we can do for now is wait and hope to hear something official in the coming weeks.
