Also addresses the Sporn phenomenon

When the Spore Creature Creator made its way onto computers everywhere in the world, the possibilities of customization included in the editor made it very easy for users to create entities shaped in a myriad of forms, covered in weird textures, with movements that defied physics. Obeying the immutable laws of the digital age, there were some people in the 2 million initial player base who chose to use Creature Creator's awesome possibilities to re-create certain anatomical parts of the human body which are usually hidden from sight. And so Sporn was born.

Electronic Arts immediately began to closely monitor the creatures that were uploaded to Sporepedia, its online creature database, and people that allowed themselves to be too liberal with the editor had their creations removed and even their accounts banned. Most people considered this as an overreaction on the part of the company, especially seeing how most of the Spore creatures have a humorous look and are not to be taken too seriously.

Now Will Wright, the man behind Spore and one of the most revered game creators still in activity, has given his opinion on the Sporn phenomenon. He said, talking to the Associated Press, that "When you give players creative control, you have to expect they're going to do the unexpected. Some of it's really good for what they were shooting for. It's amazingly explicit, especially when those creations are animated. We just have to make sure those people aren't messing up the experience for others".

Wright also talked about the fact that Spore might spread to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in the near future, with a Nintendo Wii port already announced. He believes that "Spore on almost any platform is going to be different and tied to the unique aspects of that platform. Sitting in front of a console is very different from sitting in front of a PC. Whether you're using a mouse or a controller or a Wii wand, that right off the bat is arguing for a somewhat different design".

The game launches on September 7 for the PC, the Mac and the Nintendo DS. Be sure to get it as it's supposed to be the best thing for videogames since Doom.
