One of the deadliest and most terrifying clowns ever, Pennywise from Stephen King’s “IT” novel and the ‘90s ABC miniseries, is coming to the big screen, at long last. New Line is working on the project with director Cary Fukunaga, and they have found their perfect Pennywise, Variety confirms.

He is Will Poulter, the young actor from “We’re the Millers” and “The Maze Runner.” As of the time of writing, he is the only star attached to the project and even his participation is yet to be confirmed via the official channels.

Still, having trade publication Variety report that Poulter is in negotiations means he’s gotten one foot through the door. The role was previously played by British actor Tim Curry, in the aforementioned ‘90s miniseries, aka the TV show that ruined clowns for good for many of us.

A release date has not been set, even tentatively. However, the feature film adaptation has been in the works at least as early as 2009, but obstacles along the way have pushed the project into what is commonly referred to as “pre-production limbo.”

On the bright side, Pennywise will most certainly come to the big screen - and back to haunt your dreams. The story of “IT” focuses on a group of adults who grew up together in the same town, meeting again back home.

Children have been disappearing and they want to get to the bottom of the mystery, but they can’t remember the events of a particular summer. They do remember Pennywise, though.

Considering he was evil incarnate, it does seem completely impossible to forget everything about him, doesn’t it?
