One thing's for sure, Steve Jobs is the man of surprises! After convincing all Mac fans that their systems' processors are better than anything on the market, he had no trouble with switching sides and going with Intel, seduced by their promises for faster, cooler models.
Although repeatedly saying that the video iPod had no market, Jobs launched the device, apparently giving in
to the clients' pressures.
Could it be that Apple's star is about to fade away? The iPod nano had a stormy debut, but the display issues have caused users to lose interest in it. Are the iPod sales so poor that the company needs to come with new functions to seduce the users?
In addition, although when it comes to music the iPod has no rival, once the new video device is launched, it will have to face Sony PSP, a device with superior quality, features and functions.
So, thanks to Apple, Sony doesn't have to produce dozens of MP3 players, because the enemy has ventured in a field where the Sony PSP is unbeatable.
Aside from the fact that Jobs' attitude is starting to show inconsistency, if the new video iPod is not backed quickly by video content, it might become the worse failure ever for the Cupertino player.
The companies which are struggling to see the iPod down can rejoice. Jobs might have given them a helping hand!
