WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange Not Evading Trial in Sweden, Lawyer Says

He might encounter health problems if he stays in the embassy much longer

Baltasar Garzon, the lawyer of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, claims that his client must leave the Ecuadorian embassy, where he’s currently residing, as it could have serious consequences on his health.

The Indo Asian News Service informs that Assange is trying to maintain his physical shape by running on an exercise machine, but his condition is deteriorating.

Furthermore, his physical health is not the only one that could be affected by his stay at the embassy. According to Garzon, he might also encounter psychological problems.

On the other hand, Garzon reveals that Assange is not afraid of the accusations he faces in Sweden. Instead, he’s concerned with the fact that Sweden will extradite him to the United States where he is wanted for espionage.

The lawyer has said that they agree to a trial in Sweden, but they want “secure conditions” to ensure that he will not be handed over to US authorities.

In September, UK officials promised to consider allowing Assange to receive medical care.
