What, they weren't allowed to bring Wiis near Taiwan airport? I didn't know, honest to God. Taipei Times says that government officials will not
confiscate machines anymore and that the National Communications Commission has loosened up their regulations regarding health hazards surrounding
Nintendo's
Wii, but still has to certify some issues concerning it. "There was an incident in the past where the use of wireless microphones near the airport nearly affected aviation safety, said NCC spokesperson Howard Shyr "Unexpected consequences might occur with unregulated products."
Before regulations were changed, some 69 Nintendo' Wiis were confiscated, but thanks to the government's relaxing on the issue, their owners will be soon reunited with their thought to be lost forever consoles. In a press briefing, Chien Liang-chi General Director of Customs stated: "Travelers will now be permitted to bring in consoles as long as they have either NCC certification labels or other certification."
OK, now that everyone's over the whole deal and all 69 Wii separated owners will have their consoles back, let's ask this question: what if any of the 69 machines had a modded case, like the chrome case we talked about earlier today, or the
Zelda modded case complete with sword? What would have happened then? Would the kid get his sword back? What about the chromed Wii? Would they do tests on it, open it up to see if there's a bomb, voiding warranty and all that? However, with all that crazy stuff going on in the world, you can never be too careful and we understand that it was the wireless microphones that affected aviation safety. But still, just taking them away from kids hands, just like parents were separated with their children in concentration camps...I don't know, it's inhuman.
