Or the console is turning into a Wii?

Ever since the console war has gone next-gen, different rumors started to be heard. Some of them were aimed at the Xbox 360 controller, the only one in the war that had no idea what "motion sensitive" meant. It seems that things are going to change and Microsoft has finally decided to take a new step forward.

According to MTV News, who quote an unnamed developer, Microsoft has been working on a Wii-like motion sensitive controller for Xbox 360 since last August and is planning to release it by the end of the year. Even more, this mysterious developer has drawn a sketched reproduction of the last prototype for MTV, but the final looks of the controller could change. However, the developers have already drawn a controller that incorporates four face buttons, an analog stick, a speaker and a microphone.

Microsoft doesn't want to create a controller to fight against Wii Sports and Wii Sports only, they are more ambitious, according to the source, "They want the usual assortment of Halo/Gears/Forza/whatever, just in waggle form. The whole thing is a colossal clusterf***." Actually, Microsoft just wants to get (at least in theory) some more games: "[Microsoft] marketing just wants it so they can match the Wii point for point. The biggest parts of their marketing materials outline how easy it would be for third parties to port their Wii games to the 360."

Also, rumors say that the giants tasked their studio Rare with creating the interface and look for the controller, as well as a Mii-like avatar system. I don't know what you think about this, but it really seems that we're not going to get a new controller for the Xbox 360, but rather an Xbox 360 console that's turning Wii. Some companies really want the money and they're ready to do anything for them.

Microsoft did not officially confirm the story.
