Nintendo says that one of the new features that will be added to the Wii U home console via the eShop is functionality taken from Google Maps, which allows users to control the panoramic Street View via the touchscreen included in the GamePad.

Gamers can also scan photos in a 360 degree view.

Street View can be seen on the GamePad or can be transferred to the big television sets to which the Wii U is connected.

Nintendo plans to offer a demo of the feature, which will be officially introduced during the first quarter of 2013.

Nintendo is using such applications in order to show that the Wii U is more than just a gaming device and that players can also use it for entertainment purposes or to get access to useful information.
