The game will differ when it comes to the control options

Alex Hutchinson, the game creative director working on Assassin’s Creed 3, says that there will be no clear difference between the version of the game that is launched on the new Wii U home console from Nintendo and the one that will be available on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

VG247 cites the developer as saying to GamesIndustry.biz that he is not working on “some radically diminished version, so that’s exciting.”

He adds, “It’s always a challenge with new hardware, but it’s also exciting. I love the smell of new plastic, that day you get home with your new piece of kit. And it’s been a long time since we’ve had a new piece of kit.”

Hutchinson is, of course, only referring to the graphics aspect of the game, because the control scheme will be different on the Wii U. This uses motion tracking and the new touch screen enabled GamePad to move the main character around and handle his equipment and quests.

It’s also interesting to note that the leading creative director working on Assassin’s Creed 3 has not mentioned the PC in its comparison, presumably because he would be forced to acknowledge that the platforms would deliver a game experience superior to all the other versions.

With the Wii U, Nintendo is trying to bridge the performance gap that hampered the first Wii in the last few years and attract a number of high profile action and shooter franchises, from Call of Duty to Mass Effect.

Assassin’s Creed 3 will be launched on Sony and Microsoft home console before the end of the month and the PC version is currently being delayed by about one month.

The game will be a launch title for the Wii U, which means that it will arrive on November 18 in North America, November 30 in Europe and eight days later in Japan.
