Ubisoft seems really interested in making the Nintendo Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands a success. The company recently showed off the looks of the game, saying that it would aim to deliver a look true to the franchise while not straining the Nintendo Wii, and now the French publisher has also confirmed that the Wii version of the new title will include cooperative play and come packaged with the Super Nintendo game Prince of Persia, the one that gave birth to the entire series and that will be updated to use the processing power of the gaming gadget.

The company has not offered clear information on how the cooperative element will be implemented, especially considering that it is exclusive to the Nintendo Wii.

The Nintendo Power magazine has said that a female djinn will show up in the game in order to ask the help of the Prince to save her kingdom from an ancient evil and she might be the second character, working together with the Prince to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. It seems that Ubisoft is thinking of something similar to the link between Elika and the Prince in the 2008 installment. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is set between the Sands of Time, which came out in 2003, and The Two Thrones that arrived in 2005. The main character of the series visits a nearby kingdom and finds a palace besieged by a great army. The game will introduce new elemental powers to the Prince while expanding on the platforming and combat mechanics that players are already familiar with.

The title should also come to the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Nintendo DS line of handhelds and on the PlayStation Portable on May 18 in North America and on May 20 in Europe.
