Mario is truly out of this dimension this time around, as Super Paper Mario Wii features flipping between 2D and 3D, much like
SEGA's Crush, for
the PlayStation Portable. Super Paper Mario is set for a European release on Nintendo's
Wii, this year on 14th September.
The adventure in Super Paper Mario begins when the mysterious Count Bleck, a mad genius who is determined to fulfill an ancient prophecy, kidnaps Princess Peach (like you didn't know it), Bowser and Luigi. Bleck forces Peach to marry Bowser so that he can unite good and evil and create a Chaos Heart that will destroy the universe. Only Mario escapes his clutches and now it is up to him to rescue his friends from the evil Count and save the world!
As with the previous two games in the Paper Mario series, all characters are as flat as a sheet of paper, the report informs. However, the gamer will be able to manipulate the environment around them to his/her benefit, opening up new paths and possibilities with the ability to 'flip' from 2D to 3D at any given time. Sounds good, but it can't just sound good - this feature has to be useful too, right?
As it turns out, this ability comes in quite handy throughout the game, as seemingly impassable barriers (as thin as a piece of paper) become passable when viewed in 3D. It goes the same with foes too. Some of them will seem invincible in 2D, but rest assured, as soon as you swap to 3D mode, they will expose their weak spots.
Remember, Super Paper Mario launches for Nintendo's Wii in Europe on 14th September 2007. The game is said to set gamers back some 35 Pounds - a fairly good price for such a great game. That's all for now, but expect more on the dimension-swapping title by the time it's released. They're not sitting around with their arms crossed until then, you know...
