Wii - Mario, Bikers and Lasers up on Virtual Console

Last week was packed full of Virtual Console downloadable titles for the Wii. This week, as you can imagine, is no different, as Super Mario Bros. 2, Mach Rider and Blazing Lazers hop onto the Virtual Console today, available to download and play, as long as you have the necessary Wii points to spend.

In Super Mario Bros. 2 you'll get the chance to meet your favorite Nintendo characters Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad, in their 8 bit version, and go with them on a picnic which doesn't quite go to plan when they end up in the mysterious land of Subcon. Obliged to save it from the curse of filthy frog tyrant, Wart, players must use each of the four main characters and their own special ability to battle through seven worlds and, of course, free the land from Wart's evil scheme. Super Mario Bros. 2 is available to download now for 500 Wii Points.

Mach Rider: the action is set in the year 2112, when Earth has been invaded by evil quad bikers destroying everything. Players must assume the role of Mach Rider, the world's last hope and travel from area to area destroying any quad bikers they encounter. Mach Rider also features a level design mode enabling players to create their own courses and, as the Virtual Console version features a unique option, players can save these creations to enjoy over and over again. The 1987 NES original is now available for 500 Wii Points.

Last, but not least, this week's third Virtual Console downloadable title is Blazing Lazers, originally released in 1989 for the Turbografx gaming system. Blazing Lazers is a vertical scrolling shooter featuring nine levels of non-stop shooting action in deep space. Players can choose from four weapon types including bullets, waves and rings, each of which can be upgraded making them even more pain inflicting. Blazing Lazers will set you back 600 Wii Points.

Adding these 3, the Virtual Console can now offer 92 classic titles, which you can download and enjoy for about the same price as the upper mentioned. These are the latest additions but you can also check out the whole list and decide which one is your favorite. Have fun!
