EA Sports, the division at publisher Electronic Arts in charge of the FIFA franchise, has offered more details on the version of
FIFA 11 that is being developed for the Nintendo Wii home console. Gamers who are interested in experiencing the football simulation on it can look forward to getting both the full 11 on 11 professional mode, which is also included in the version for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, and a new and exclusive 5 on 5 mode that focuses on street football.
The smaller sides and quicker style of play make street football an exciting new experience. All the players will wear street gear and each of them will have unique abilities designed to allow them to get through their direct opponent and score. Walls can be used to jump and pass behind defenders. A new Arcade mode allows players to use a power meter to get more powerful shots, get a speed increase of send a shockwave towards opponents.
EA Sports says that players will be able to choose streets from Brazil to London and to Paris to play on, with a variety of options linked to the type of game and to how the match space is set up, with elevated nets and mini nets being just two of the possibilities. The soundtrack and the visual style are specific to each area and help player understand the football culture of the place.
Those who are not interested in 5 on 5 games can also chose to play the normal FIFA game on the Nintendo Wii, in the 30 officially licensed leagues and using more than 15,000 players with complete stats.
All the versions of
FIFA 11 will be launched on October 1 in Europe and in Asia and three days later in North America.
