Report claims Maria Shriver left Arnold Schwarzenegger because he’d been unfaithful to her

Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed yesterday that they had separated after 25 years of marriage, and were taking some time off from each other to see whether their relationship could be saved. More details on the split are emerging – and it’s not pretty.

While the two said in their joint statement that they still loved each other and were working on fixing their marriage, TMZ claims the reality behind closed doors is completely different.

As sources for the (former) couple reveal, Maria actually wanted to leave Arnold long before she moved out of the house, but she could never get herself to do it.

By the time she did it, she was completely sick and tired of her husband’s infidelities, feeling unappreciated and, most importantly, “terrified” of her husband, claims the report.

“We’re told Maria has been unhappy with Arnold for years and first planned to split with him back in 2009, but her mother passed away and Maria decided to hold off,” TMZ writes.

In January this year, Maria again tried to leave Arnold, but had to put plans on hold once more when her father died, the report argues.

“Our source tells us Maria is fed up with Arnold’s infidelities, coupled with the fact he’s been ‘impossible’ to live with. We’re told Maria’s kids acknowledge the issues – and have pushed their mother to call off the marriage,” TMZ says.

“People who have spoken with Maria tell us, despite her STRONG public persona, Maria has become a ‘shell of the woman’ she appears to be because she is ‘terrified’ of Arnold... but in an emotional, not a physical way,” the e-zine adds.

Now that she’s moved out of the house, the report goes on to mention, Arnold has changed completely: he’s no longer ignoring her, but doing everything in his power to win her back.

As we also noted yesterday, the two are yet to file divorce papers, which means chances of a reconciliation are still looking good.
