Rather than help the man convince his wife to give him his cocaine back, police officers arrested the 39-year-old

Earlier this week, police officers in Ohio, US, received a rather bizarre call. They were contacted by a man who told them that his wife had stolen his cocaine and who asked that the police officers help him get it back.

A team was dispatched to the man's house immediately. However, rather than help him get his stash back from his thieving wife, the officers who handled this case arrested the man, brought him with them back to the police station and put him behind bars.

How one phone call changed the man's life

The man, identified as 39-year-old Robert Collins, had his cocaine stolen sometime on Wednesday. He contacted the police on the very same day, late in the evening.

By the time officers got to his house, he must have realized that calling 911 to report a cocaine theft was not such a good idea. Hence the fact that, when face to face with the cops sent to his house, he insisted that nothing was wrong.

“Defendant called 911 because he claimed that his wife stole his cocaine. Upon arrival, he stated that there was no emergency and refused to tell police why he called 911,” reads the report on this case, as cited by The Smoking Gun.

The cops did not give up all that easily and decided to search his house nonetheless. They ended up finding a pipe for smoking marijuana and arrested him for possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was also charged with misuse of 911.

Add to this the fact that 39-year-old Robert Collins was already wanted in connection with a 2013 case and the police had a previous warrant for his arrest, and it's safe to assume that he will spend some time in jail.

It's unclear where the wife and the cocaine disappeared

The police report detailing the circumstances that led to the 39-year-old man's arrest this past Wednesday does not mention anything about the whereabouts of the Robert Collins' wife and the stolen cocaine.

By the looks of it, the woman was nowhere in sight when officers arrived at the man's house and inspected it. It might be that, having realized the trouble, the wife fled the scene the moment her husband dialed 911.
