Two years after she filed for divorce, Robyn Gibson is now officially a single woman. She and actor / director Mel Gibson are now free to move on with their life, though he might be doing so with half the fortune he had two years ago.

Mel Gibson's estate is estimated at $900 million (€688.6 million) and chances are Robyn got half of that in the divorce proceedings, seeing how she and Mel did not sign a prenup when they said “I Do.”

Details of the divorce proceedings have been kept well under wraps, but People magazine says chances are Robyn walked away with half of Mel's money.

People believes the star's estate is actually $50 million (€38.2 million) less than the amount circulated in the press.

“Mel Gibson is now legally single after his divorce was finalized Friday in a Los Angeles courtroom, but bachelorhood came at a heavy price,” the celebrity publication says.

“Robyn, his ex-wife of nearly 30 years and the mother of their seven children, is walking away with half his fortune, once estimated to be as high as $850 million (according to the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2006) in what is considered the biggest divorce payout in Hollywood history,” People writes.

This was a record Mel most likely did not want to set but, to his credit, he handled the divorce proceedings better than he did the breakup from girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Those keeping an eye on all good celebrity gossip must know the leaked tapes scandal Mel found himself in when audio of phone messages he left for his ex emerged online – and he could be heard swearing and making death threats at her expense.

At the opposite pole was his split from his wife of 30 years: not a peep was heard during these two years since she filed for divorce, save for the occasional speculation on how much money she'd get.

As per People, Robyn is quite a rich woman now.

“Among Gibson’s estimated assets: more than $600 million (€459 million) grossed by The Passion of the Christ alone; $100 (€76.5)-plus million in real estate investments worldwide (he bought an island in Fiji for $15 million [€11.4 million] in 2005); and $75 million (€57.3 million) for film and TV projects for which Gibson, 55, executive produced,” the mag says of Gibson's assets.

Half of all this now belongs to Robyn.
