A guy who got his wife a new iPhone 4S says he caught her cheating after installing Find My Friends on the device without her knowing.

He shares his story with the people at MacRumors where he sent the pictures displayed left (email screenshot).

“I got my wife a new 4s and loaded up find my friends without her knowing,” he wrote, according to the rumor blog. “She told me she was at her friends house in the east village.”

“I’ve had suspicions about her meeting this guy who lives uptown. Lo and behold, Find my Friends has her right there,” he writes. “I just texted her asking where she was and the dumb b***h said she was on 10th Street!! Thank you Apple, thank you App Store, thank you all. These beautiful treasure trove of screen shots going to play well when I meet her a** at the lawyer’s office in a few weeks. Thankfully, she's the rich one.”

While the story could well be a fake, the capabilities of Find My Friends pose serious privacy issues. Granted, Apple does allow users to turn the ‘locate’ function on and off, so you can travel anywhere without people knowing where you are.

It remains to be seen whether Apple will have to add another layer of user-acceptance for the feature.

For those who aren’t in the loop, Find My Friends is a new iOS 5 and iCloud service. It allows you to easily locate your friends and family from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The app is free and requires an Apple ID to use with iCloud.

In addition to finding your friends, the app also has a temporary sharing option, and parental restrictions. Apple actually mentions “simple privacy controls” as a key feature.
