WidowPC is a relative small custom PC maker which generally produces high performance mobile rigs, most of them being oriented towards gaming. This time, their
latest notebook is aimed at the enthusiast gaming market and offers a top configuration at a lower price than the competition.
The Sting 517D notebook features a Core 2 Duo CPU paired with a maximum 4GBs of Ram. The model also comes preinstalled with a GeForce Go 7950 GTX video card with 512MB DDR3 memory which is connected with the 17-inch Wide Screen 1920 x 1200 WUXGA LCD. As for the storage, a DVD-RAM/Writer is present along with a 200GB hard disk.
"Many people believe that they don't really have any other option than to buy from the 'big business' computer manufacturers. This high value proposition to holiday computer shoppers changes all that by showing people that there are family run companies that still care about individual customers and can offer the same or better features with a better price," says Joshua McClure, chief executive at WidowPC.
The final product that will reach the market will also include high speed wireless, Bluetooth, TV tuner, memory card reader and it will ship with more than $400 in free software and lifetime tech support. Price tag is $2,195(about $100 less than Dell's XPS laptop).
