Wicked Audio has just announced that during the 2012 edition of the Consumer Electronics Fair the company will introduce a new headphone model called the Solus that was developed in order to deliver impressive audio quality.

The release of the Solus will mark an important moment for Wicked Audio as these will be the first headphones to use the company’s brand new packaging, which will become standard for all its future products.

As far as the Solus over-the-year phones are concerned, these are available in a black/red dual-colored design and feature a thick braided cord, which should make them easier to carry around with you.

In addition, Wicked Audio has also added a volume control button right on the headphones as well as a so called DJ switch, allowing users to switch from DJ mode to stereo sound.

Specs wise, Wicked Audio didn’t share all that much info with us, but engadget has found out that they will feature "high performance" 40mm drivers capable of delivering 106db of sound pressure in the 20-20,000Hz range.

“At Empire Brands, we’re constantly striving to create a variety of headphones that appeal to all of our customers, from fashionistas to musicians,” said Paul Marshall, VP of Sales, Empire Brands.

“We are thrilled to unleash our newest Solus headphones at CES 2012 which sport the brand new packaging now being used for all Wicked products, delivering an immaculate look.

“These are the best sounding Wicked headphones to date, which breaks us into another mass appeal market while still delivering the unique design qualities our customers know and love,” concluded the company’s rep.

The Solus headphones will become available right after CES 2012, in January that is, with a recommended retail price of $100 (about 77.5 EUR).
