Galaxy Tab, the first tablet PC that South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung brought to the market with Google's Android operating system on board, is expected to become available in a new flavor in the new future, one that would not pack 3G connectivity options.

Basically, this would be the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab version that made it to the headlines a while ago, and which is no where to be found on shelves.

Apparently, things are so due to the fact that Samsung themselves put the slate on hold, even if it was already spotted at Best Buy.

As a recent article on Engadget notes, Best Buy is currently promoting the WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab device, SKU 1409447, in the weekly ads on its own mobile site.

However, it appears that Samsung delayed the release of the new tablet PC model, and that Best Buy issued a pullback notice, which can be seen in the shot attached below.

For the time being, no specific info on when the new tablet PC variant would be released on the market emerged, though chances are that the WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab won't be available for purchase until after the holiday season.

Of course, nothing is certain on the matter, nor is it official, but there are great chances that Samsung would announce the slate pretty soon.

After all, with those 600k Galaxy Tab units shipped to date, the slate can be considered pretty popular among end-users, especially since tablet PCs are not that common, and since it comes with a rather high price tag.

The said WiFi-only Galaxy Tab version would arrive on shelves with a lower price tag than the 3G-capable flavor sports, which would make it a little more appealing to consumers.

Hopefully, it won't be too long before Samsung announces officially the new Galaxy Tab version, so keep an eye on this space for more.
