On Wednesday, Samsung announced the upcoming availability of the WiFi-only flavor of Samsung Galaxy Tab via several retail stores and Web sites starting with April 10th, featuring a price tag of only $349.99. The mobile phone maker launched Galaxy Tab in fall last year, with a 7-inch touchscreen display on board, and with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board.

A 3G flavor of the device was already available in the United States through various wireless carrier and via retailers, and the WiFi model, which was unveiled in early 2011, is almost here as well.

Users interested in the purchase of the new tablet PC version should head over to the company's website here to have a look at the complete list of retail outlets selling the WiFi Galaxy Tab.

“We are excited to have the WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab join our growing portfolio of Galaxy-branded devices,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile.

“The 7-inch Galaxy Tab is the first truly mobile tablet on the market, allowing users to comfortably hold the device in one hand while typing or navigating the Web with the other.”

The tablet PC's 7-inch TFT display can deliver a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, Samsung notes, adding that users would be able to enjoy 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage.

The Galaxy Tab comes with support for the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for a great web browsing experience, offering users the possibility to view content including games, animations, rich Internet applications (RIAs), data presentations video, music and more.

Moreover, the device was packed with a 3 megapixel photo snapper on the back, complemented with a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera that enables video calling.

Among the other features of the new device, we can count the Media Hub, with access to various content from leading publishers, as well as its GPS receiver, with support for Google Maps.

“The WiFi Galaxy Tab joins other popular products under the premium Samsung Galaxy brand, including the upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy 8.9, Galaxy Player 5.0 and Galaxy Player 4.0 and the portfolio of Galaxy S smartphones,” Samsung concluded.
